Bartercard Blog: Purchasing Business

A business is difficult to manage, at least, according to some people.

While there are various reasons not to start a business such as building a customer base and creating a marketing plan, there are a number of reasons why you should be materializing your ideas out there. Financial independence and a sense of pride that you built your business from scratch are just some of the perks that comes with it.
Buying an existing business is another option to go if you still want to have your own minus the risk. It’s considered to be more practical because you do not have to build your business from scratch and you will be taking over an existing operation that’s already been generating cash flow, profit, an established customer base, as well as employees who are familiar with the aspects of the business on your side.
This proves to be efficient in Bartercard that sells good and services. In Bartercard, buying a business is much easier to accomplish because a member will be given an account manager who will assist a client from looking a business that suits their client’s taste to the purchasing agreements.
Craig Scott is a Bartercard member for six years and was a successful sales consultant in the company. As a former employee, he has a proper grasp of the company’s system as well as the services or products that are available. When he purchased a business, he had a trade coordinator or an account manager assist him in how purchasing businesses.
Craig bought several businesses with his partners over the last sixteen years. Some that are not doing well and had to be closed but he still takes new businesses in and aim to expand them over time.
Currently, he has already bought three businesses from Bartercard, the latest is Sunshine Commercial Laundry business that he purchased in 2017.
It only had a few operating laundry machines before he took over but he invested more over time by buying 11 operating commercial laundry machines, more or less. This has improved the number of customers they accumulate over time. He also grains customers by offering laundry services to hotels and restaurants, some to households, as well as clients from the Bartercard network. They also utilized Bartercard as a marketing tool by incentivizing Bartercard clients to refer cash leads.
In conclusion, buying a business does not pose too much risks, however, it solely depends on the buyer to take the necessary steps to take. It is equally fulfilling as building your own business from scratch because purchasing a business has its fair share of challenges that can be overcome and Bartercard allows both the businesses and the business owner to expand and be flexible. It’s a way to reinvent our thinking, a base to start with in case we want to expand the business further, and in Bartercard, everything is paid through trade dollars which means cashing out a lot of money won’t be too much of a problem.

“I think, in Bartercard, people should take their time to square things a little bit. Over time it works.” – Craig Scott
