In a survey conducted by New York Enterprise Report, it was found that small business owners work twice as much as regular employees with 33% of the respondents working more than 50 hours per week while 25%  disclosed working for more than 60 hours a week.
Would you say they’re hard-working? Yes. Would you say it’s too much? Absolutely, especially for a regular employee. With the figures shown above, it would be no surprise to most of you that owners skip fancy cocktail-sipping while floating on a six-feet pool in a beach resort in front of a magnificent sunset view. Well, not for business owner Paula Brand, a Bartercard member.

Being a small business owner herself, Paula knows the amount of work and effort she has to exert for her business, Small Business Expos. Just recently, Paula celebrated her 50th birthday and decided to give herself a much-needed break to temporarily drift away from both the joy and stress of managing a business. Although traveling is something she has always loved, she did not have the opportunity to do so due to the demanding nature for her focus in her work and the unaffordability of the destinations at the same time. However, knowing that Bartercard also covers the aspect of Tourism, she abruptly checked the Bartercard website for available places to visit. She found Paradise Taveuni, a tropical paradise in Fiji. She immediately contacted her trade coordinator for booking and in no time, she was already set for Fiji. 

Upon arriving, Paula was instantly pleased when she saw how the staff of this tropical paradise welcomed them. By the sea was a decorated table with a massive array of seafood, wine, and a surprise birthday cake for her. Other food was served by the kind staff addressing her by her name. Everything was a top-notch service to be paid only by trade dollars. The kindness of the staff, the owner, and the overall special and intimate setting of the place arranged just for her and her daughter was a trip she will never forget. She also made use of this opportunity to get her daughter experience and connect to her Fijian roots. 

Paula admitted that trips are expensive and she would not have been able to afford the travel to Fiji without the availability and affordability of it from Bartercard. To pay for the holiday, all Paula has to do was open up her stands at the Small Business Expos so Bartercard clients can come along and have a stand, which they also pay for using Bartercard. 

 Bartercard is a B2B (business to business) trade exchange that helps businesses gain additional sales from their members while at the same time, save cash by spending on their business expenses or personal expenses.  She owes the vacation to herself for all the hard work and for her daughter. Paula encourages other Bartercard members to travel using their trade dollars as it not only saves cash, the holidays are also fun and of exceptional value. It also brings the family closer without money and time being compromised.
